The day that Bill Watterson told the world he was going to stop drawing Calvin & Hobbes is in my brain. The last strip is etched in my memory as the last words of a dying friend. I had read every strip from the beginning and laughed, cried and even lived the life of Calvin. Bill captured the heart of a child from my generation and his ability to tell stories was amazing.
The greatest gift my girls ever gave was a few yrs ago when the entire strip was produced in a bond/boxed set. I treasure it.

I also miss Freakies Cereal. It came up about 68. The little characters they created as the "Freaks" were just plan cool. You could collect them from the boxes. Bright colors, made of plastic, about 2inches tall. I even remember the jingle.

"Oh, I love that Freakies cereal. Oh, darling you know I do. For it's crunchy and delicious and it's made for me and you. Oh, I wonder, I wonder, I wonder, where's the Freakies tree?

Quisp! We were not allowed to get Quisp. It was deemed an evil cereal that was capable of rotting teeth and our very souls in a single bite.
